Help! I broke my blanks! (dont worry...they are ALL fixable!)

I am finally getting around to making this post. It's been a long time coming. A lot of people order blanks to make pair eyewear toppers themselves and during the learning phase of a new craft they either break, or bend things to much and complain they broke them and they are trash. I am here to tell you YOU CAN FIX IT ALL. (in the words of bob the builder "we can fix it"). All you need is patience and uv resin! Here are some examples!

(I highlighted the break with orange so you can see it better through out this whole page)

Q. I drilled a hole for the magnets to big.

A. This is 200% fine. If you have a topper of the same style you are making your own topper for use some wax paper/sticket paper/sticker book, put your original pair eyewear topper under the wax paper (make sure waxie side up, with the broke one you want ton fix) toss two magnets (one for left one for right) onto the wax paper.

Right now all you see is wax paper/sticket paper/sticker book backing and 2 magnets. Now you place your blank where the holes are and align them correctly with the magnets. Place something small and slightly heavy (like a deck of cards) over everything around where the bridge of the nose is. Recheck at least one side is ligned up where it needs to be. Do one side at a time and add the uv resin and hold down near the resin without touching it while curing under a uv gel nail light. Next do the other side.

Now you have toppers perfectly aligned where they need to be, the hole is filled and you are ready to design. (NOTE this is most likely the EASIEST fix out there. It's a non problem. <3

Q. I broke my blanks trying to get the holes poked out.

A. Easy fix. Finish poking the holes out, drill with a nail drill to make the hole a smidge bigger. If you have a topper of the same style you are making your own topper for use some wax paper put your original topper under the wax paper (waxie side up) toss two magnets (one for left one for right) onto the wax paper.

(the orange is a full break the pink (harder to see it's on the inside) is just a bend)

Attach the magnets while you fix the breaks with this one. You may need to hold this one down near the break. Do not touch the resin with your hands.

Notice I am not touching the resin and it is pushed down so it is flat when curing. It is blue because the nail light is on.

fully fixed and ready for designs. Use a nail drill for any lumps. You can fix lumpy patchy areas also. Remember you CAN fix it!

Q. I broke my blanks (anywhere on them before designing).

A. We can fix this! Yes yes we can! use two things of equal weight (similar to playing cards or slightly smaller than that. Two post it note stacks can work.) Use some wax paper to work on. Align the break until it is where you desire them to be mended. add a couple drops (not a lot) of uv resin (or nail polish) and cure under the light. make sure there is enough to patch it and not to much to cause a lump. Sand with your nail drill any excess resin/nail polish that is not part of the blank (ie it spilled over the edges).

we got this! Easy!

(fixed the middle break and now I am ready to sand it down so it isn't as lumpy and attach my magnets.)

break under where the magnet holes are.

using an altoid like tin to hold them down while curing. I also attach magnets when anything Is semi close to the magnet hole as it is.

fully fixed and ready for designs!

outer edge break

Align the break and add some post it notes or playing cards.

fully repaired and ready to attach magnets and then design!

Q. Post office stepped on my blanks and bent them, shoved in my mail box and broke some.

A. First off show me some pics so I can email you any tips. Each case is different. If they are broken we can fix it! If they are bent, we can usually fix it but if they are basically looking like a tumble weed not so much. Bend them the oposit way they were bent and add some uv resin and keep flat while it cures under a gel nail light. (I am pro not wasting more plastic than we need to so try to save what we can. It's not right the post office doesn't care, same time, try to save what we can.)
